The event was well attended and the exuberant festivities went on into the night. “Today the car park was transformed into a party zone,” said AMKmotion Managing Director Stefan Buchner, looking at the cheerful hustle and bustle and the smiling faces on the extensive festival area at the company headquarters in Kirchheim. 550 guests gathered at AMKmotion in glorious late summer weather to celebrate a special event: the company’s 60th anniversary. The drive specialists put together a varied programme for their employees and families, AMKmotion retirees, and guests from sibling company Arburg: a large buffet offered all kinds of epicurean delights, an ice cream van provided a perfect cooling option on a hot day, and a bouncy castle and human table soccer tournament – a game of giant table football – ensured lots of fun and exercise for young and old alike. Meanwhile guided tours of the production facilities gave visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in AMKmotion’s world of technology. 60 years of innovation And speaking of technology from Kirchheim – it is used not just in mechanical engineering and plant engineering, but in racing, too: visitors were able to take a close-up look at the electric racing car of the Green Team – the University of Stuttgart Formula Student Team . The electric speedster accelerates from standstill to 100 kilometres per hour in a world record time of 1.461 seconds. On board: inverters made by AMKmotion specially designed for this application. “This great achievement clearly shows what is possible with our products, and it fits in perfectly with the series of innovative drive technology developments that have defined AMKmotion from the very beginning,” says Buchner. It all began back in 1963, when Arnold Müller started developing and producing engines. Growth in subsequent years was based on a long series of groundbreaking innovations in the field of electrical drive and control technology along with constant advancement of the company. The world’s first continuously variable three-phase motors went into series production in 1967. Der Entwickler und Hersteller elektrischer Antriebssysteme nutzt den regionalen „Treffpunkt für Experten und Praktiker“, um die ganze Bandbreite seiner Lösungen im Drei-Länder-Eck vorzustellen. Wie auch die Einzelkomponenten sitzt die mechatronische Funktionseinheit in einem Metallgehäuse, das den schock- und vibrationsfesten Wechselrichter und Servomotor nach Schutzart IP65 vor Staub und Feuchtigkeit schützt. Pressemitteilung AMKmotion auf der SPS: Kosteneffiziente Antriebssysteme Die SPS 2024 (12. bis 14. November, Nürnberg) ist der Treffpunkt für die Automatisierungsbranche. Mittendrin: AMKmotion. Der Entwickler und Hersteller elektrischer Antriebssysteme nimmt sich in diesem Jahr dem Thema Total Cost of Ownership an. Besucher können an Stand 210 in Halle 4 innovative Lösungen entdecken, die ihnen dabei helfen, die Gesamtbetriebskosten ihrer Anlagen zu senken. AMKmotion kombiniert Innovation mit Tradition und setzt darauf, bewährte Technik stetig zu überarbeiten und weiterzuentwickeln. Anwender profitieren so von Kompatibilität und langen Nutzungszeiten der Steuerungen, Antriebe und Motoren sowie von geringeren Kosten – ohne auf aktuelle Technik verzichten zu müssen. „Wir bauen, wo es möglich ist, auf bewährte Technologie auf, entwickeln sie weiter und bringen sie auf den aktuellen Stand der Technik“, erklärt Alexander Hipp, Director Sales & Customer Solution Center bei AMKmotion. „Die Überarbeitung bewährter Komponenten plus die Weiterentwicklung der Geräte führt zu großen Kostenersparnissen und der Anwender profitiert zudem von Flexibilität und Modularität im Gesamtsystem.“ In Nürnberg zeigt der Antriebsspezialist kompatible Neugeräte sowie Weiterentwicklungen bestehender Antriebstechnik, beispielsweise seinen brandneuen ihD. Der dezentrale Servowechselrichter mit Einkabelverdrahtung in Daisy-Chain-Technik überträgt Leistung, STO (Safe Torque Off), 24 Volt und die Kommunikation in einer einzigen Leitung. Im Vergleich zu einem zentralen Antriebskonzept reduzieren sich so die Kosten für die Verkabelung um bis zu 70 Prozent. AMKmotion hat zudem die Regelelektronik auf dem Servomotor integriert, wodurch sich der Verkabelungsaufwand beim ihD-DT5 weiter verringert, was ebenfalls zur Kosteneinsparung beiträgt. Das Gerät besitzt ein robustes, EMV-verträgliches Aluminiumgehäuse, ist in der Schutzart IP65 ausgeführt und erlaubt eine dreifache Überlast für eine Sekunde. Ebenfalls in Nürnberg zu sehen: die dezentrale Einspeisung mit integriertem Motion Controller ihP. Beim Nachfolger des bewährten iSA spendiert AMKmotion nicht nur eine Leistungssteigerung auf acht Kilowatt Dauerlast, sondern vereinfacht auch die Handhabung: Energie- und Datenleitung laufen beim ihP in einem Hybridstecker zusammen. Damit lassen sich nachfolgende Antriebe schnell und einfach per Plug-and-Play installieren, es ist kein Fachpersonal mehr notwendig. Besucher erleben ihD und ihP am Messestand voll in Action: Eine mannshohe elektrische Kugelbahn veranschaulicht, was die neuen Komponenten können und wie sie nahtlos ineinandergreifen – ganz ohne Schaltschrank. Synchron-Servomotor mit hoher Leistungsdichte Mit dem LD stellt AMKmotion ein weiteres Highlight vor. Der Synchron-Servomotor bietet eine hohe Leistungsdichte und einen hohen Wirkungsgrad. Dank seines geringen Trägheitsmoments beschleunigt der LD sehr schnell und steigert so die Produktivität der Maschine. Zudem überzeugt er durch eine höhere Robustheit und ein energieeffizienteres Verhalten. Der langlebige Antrieb eignet sich damit besonders für die hochdynamische zyklische Positionierung geringer Massen. AMKmotion at SPS: cost-efficient drive systems SPS 2024 (November 12-14, Nuremberg) is the meeting place of the automation industry. Right at the heart of the action: AMKmotion. This year, the developer and manufacturer of electric drive systems is addressing the topic of total cost of ownership. At Stand 210 in Hall 4, visitors can discover innovative solutions that will help them reduce the TCO of their systems. AMKmotion combines innovation with tradition, constantly revising and refining well-established technology. Users benefit from the compatibility and long life cycle of the controls, drives and motors as well as lower costs – without having to do without the latest technology. “Wherever possible, we build on well-established technology, refining it and bringing it into line with the current state of the art,” explains Alexander Hipp, Director Sales & Customer Solution Center at AMKmotion. “The revision of tried-and-tested components combined with the refinement of existing devices results in major cost savings, and the user also benefits from the flexibility and modular structure of the system as a whole.” In Nuremberg, the drive specialist will be showcasing compatible new devices along with further developments of existing drive technology – including its brand new ihD. The decentralized servo inverter with single-cable daisy-chain cabling transmits power, STO (Safe Torque Off), 24 volts and communication in a single line. Compared to a centralized drive concept, this saves up to 70 percent of cabling costs. AMKmotion has also integrated the control electronics in the servo motor, further reducing the amount of cabling required for the ihD-DT5 – another contributing factor when it comes to cost savings. With its robust, EMC-compatible aluminum housing, the device is designed to comply with protection class IP65 and allows a triple overload for one second. Also on show in Nuremberg: the decentralized power supply with integrated motion controller ihP. In this successor to the tried-and-tested iSA, AMKmotion has not only increased output to eight kilowatts continuous load, it has simplified handling as well: in the ihP, the power and data cables are combined in a hybrid connector. This means that downstream drives can be installed quickly and easily via plug-and-play, without the need for skilled specialists. Visitors can experience ihD and ihP in action at the trade show stand: a head-high electric ball track demonstrates what the new components are capable of and how they interlock seamlessly – without the need for a switch cabinet. Synchronous servo motor with high power density AMKmotion will be presenting another highlight too, namely the LD – a synchronous servo motor that offers a high level of power density and efficiency. Thanks to its low moment of inertia, the LD accelerates very quickly, thereby increasing machine productivity. Its greater robustness and energy-efficiency are likewise impressive features. This makes the durable drive particularly suitable for the highly dynamic cyclical positioning of small masses. Its permanent magnet brakes function backlash-free and with no abrasion, thereby increasing the life cycle. The LD is available in flange sizes 55, 70, 100 and 142 millimeters. Engineering tool makes work easier and faster The AMKmotion highlights at SPS are rounded off with AIPEX 5: further optimized, fully web-based and platform-neutral, it offers tools for startup along with analysis methods such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and filter settings for the automatic adaptation of mechanical and electrical sections. Press release AMKmotion at the SPS: energy efficiency thanks to hybrid drive solutions the SPS 2023 (14-16 November, Nuremberg) is the meeting place of the automation industry. At the heart of the action: AMKmotion. The developer and manufacturer of electric drive systems will be presenting the full range of its portfolio at Stand 210 in Hall 4. This year’s trade fair appearance focuses on energy efficiency and hybrid drive solutions. Efficiency always has to do with a precise fit. Processes can only run safely and efficiently if the solution is tailored to the problem based on needs. This firstly requires a sound knowledge of the parameters, and secondly products that are able to offer a high level of efficiency. This is exactly where AMKmotion comes into play: at the SPS, the drive specialist will be presenting its extensive motor portfolio and central converter technology with the latest generation of controllers, and demonstrating how highly efficient systems can be set up based on intermediate energy storage and energy recovery, for example. The KES compact power feed transfers regenerative energy back to the grid by means of sinus commutation, thereby reducing electricity costs. In addition, the variable DC bus makes the system less dependent on the local power supply voltage. Another building block towards achieving greater energy efficiency: hybrid drive concepts. Modularized mechanical engineering uses decentralized drives that do their job directly at the point of action. However, power-intensive processes usually require the installation of a central automation solution with a switch cabinet. By combining both solution approaches, users can benefit from the advantages offered by each one. This is particularly easy when the components are at home in both worlds. KHY – the hybrid distributor One of the ways in which AMKmotion supports its customers is with the hybrid distributor KHY, for example. This simplifies the combination of different signals and supply voltages from the central drive level. In this way, the distributor serves as an intelligent interface to the decentralized drive environment. The standardized interface is designed as a module – simply expanding central switch cabinet devices. Safety fuses are integrated for short-circuit and overload protection. In addition, the KHY monitors the DC bus current and the decentralized drive train via an I²t counter. The switch-off response can be configured individually. Decentralized drive technology Another component from the hybrid world is the iX decentralized servo inverter. Thanks to its protection class IP65, it is also suitable for mounting close to the motor in harsh environments. It can be supplied both on a decentralized basis and from the central switch cabinet. Several inverters can be wired together based on the daisy chain concept, while the DC bus, STO and 24 volts can be looped to other decentralized controllers via the iX. Real-time communication takes place via a separate fieldbus cable. AMKmotion will also be presenting its energy-efficient iC servo converter at the SPS. This can supply an axis with up to five kilovolt amps and also provides a DC bus and 24 volts for additional servo inverters. It too has IP65 protection as well as being shock and vibration resistant. Instead of installing the iC in a switch cabinet, the user installs it directly in the machine. This is achieved in a space-saving manner, as the servo converter is accommodated in a light and compact aluminium housing. Further simplifying installation, the AC feed-in only requires one line for the grid connection. An integrated charging resistor also serves as a brake chopper, meaning external components are no longer required. Efficient motors In addition, AMKmotion will be exhibiting its generation of motors trimmed for energy efficiency with high power density. Here, energy input is only required for the movement itself. Trade fair visitors will get to see the synchronous servo motors of the DT and DD series, for example. The DT motors allow high-torque positioning of larger masses and high cycle rates. The modular and highly dynamic DD motors enable cyclic positioning of low masses. Pressemitteilung AMKmotion auf der SPS: Energieeffizienz dank hybrider Antriebslösungen Die SPS 2023 (14. bis 16. November, Nürnberg) ist der Treffpunkt für die Automatisierungsbranche. Mitten drin: AMKmotion. An Stand 210 in Halle 4 stellt der Entwickler und Hersteller elektrischer Antriebssysteme die ganze Bandbreite seines Portfolios vor. Im Fokus stehen beim diesjährigen Messeauftritt Energieeffizienz und hybride Antriebslösungen. Effizienz hat immer etwas mit Passgenauigkeit zu tun. Nur wenn die Lösung bedarfsgerecht auf das Problem abgestimmt ist, können Prozesse sicher und eben effizient ablaufen. Das erfordert zum einen eine gute Kenntnis der Parameter und zum anderen Produkte mit hohem Wirkungsgrad. Genau hier kommt AMKmotion ins Spiel: Auf der SPS demonstriert der Antriebsspezialist mit seinem umfangreichen Motorenportfolio und der zentralen Umrichtertechnik mit neuster Reglergeneration, wie sich etwa durch Energiezwischenspeicherung und -rückspeisung hocheffiziente Systeme aufbauen lassen. So transferiert die Kompakteinspeisung KES generatorische Energie mittels Sinuskommutierung ins Netz zurück. Dies reduziert die Stromkosten. Zusätzlich ist man durch den regelbaren Zwischenkreis unabhängiger von der örtlichen Netzspannung. Ein weiterer Baustein hin zu mehr Energieeffizienz: hybride Antriebskonzepte. Der modularisierte Maschinenbau nutzt dezentrale Antriebe, die direkt am Ort des Geschehens ihren Job machen. Leistungsintensive Prozesse erfordern jedoch in der Regel den Aufbau einer zentralen Automatisierungslösung mit Schaltschrank. Kombinieren Anwender beide Lösungsansätze, können sie die jeweiligen Vorteile nutzen. Das gelingt besonders einfach, wenn die Komponenten in beiden Welten zuhause sind. KHY – der Hybridverteiler AMKmotion unterstützt seine Kunden beispielsweise mit dem Hybridverteiler KHY. Er vereinfacht die Zusammenführung verschiedener Signale und Versorgungsspannungen aus der zentralen Antriebsebene. Damit dient der Verteiler als intelligente Schnittstelle zur dezentralen Antriebswelt. Das standardisierte Interface ist als Anreihmodul aufgebaut und erweitert damit einfach zentrale Schaltschrankgeräte. Für den Kurzschluss- und Überlastschutz sind Schmelzsicherungen integriert. Zusätzlich überwacht der KHY den Zwischenkreisstrom und den dezentralen Antriebsstrang über einen I²t-Zähler. Das Abschaltverhalten lässt sich individuell konfigurieren. Dezentrale Antriebstechnik Ein weiterer Baustein aus der hybriden Welt ist der dezentrale Servo-Wechselrichter iX. Dank Schutzart IP65 eignet er sich auch in rauer Umgebung für die motornahe Montage. Er kann sowohl dezentral als auch aus dem zentralen Schaltschrank versorgt werden. Nach dem Daisy-Chain-Konzept lassen sich mehrere Wechselrichter miteinander verkabeln. Dabei kann über den iX der DC-Bus, STO und 24 Volt zu anderen dezentralen Reglern weiter geschleift werden. Die Echtzeit-Kommunikation erfolgt über einen separaten Feldbusstrang. Außerdem zeigt AMKmotion auf der SPS den energieeffizienten Servo-Umrichter iC. Er kann eine Achse mit bis zu fünf Kilovoltampere versorgen und stellt zusätzlich einen Zwischenkreis sowie 24 Volt für weitere Servo-Wechselrichter zur Verfügung. Auch er baut in Schutzart IP65, ist schock- und vibrationsfest. Statt in einen Schaltschrank verbaut der Anwender den iC direkt an der Maschine. Das gelingt platzsparend, da der Servo-Umrichter in einem leichten und kompakten Aluminiumgehäuse unterkommt. Was den Einbau zusätzlich vereinfacht: Die AC-Einspeisung verlangt lediglich eine Leitung für den Netzanschluss. Ein integrierter Ladewiderstand, der gleichzeitig als Brems-Chopper dient, macht externe Komponenten überflüssig. Effiziente Motoren Zudem stellt AMKmotion seine auf Energieeffizienz getrimmte Motorengeneration mit hoher Leistungsdichte aus. Ein Energieeinsatz ist hier nur für die Bewegung selbst erforderlich. Die Besucher können sich beispielsweise ein Bild von den Synchron-Servomotoren der DT- und DD-Reihe machen. Die DT-Motoren erlauben die drehmomentstarke Positionierung größerer Massen und hohe Taktzahlen. Die modularen und hochdynamischen DD-Motoren ermöglichen die zyklische Positionierung geringer Massen.
